INFAMY

This flick by Doug Pray, and Roger Gastman originally came out in '05 I think. I just got the dvd from Netflix and peeped it last night. Amazing. Easliy one of the best graffiti documentaries since Style Wars. It follows six writers, from LA, SF, NYC and Philly. ENEM, SABER, TOOMER, CLAW, EARSNOT, JASE, and Joe Connoly, LA's anti-graffiti guerilla. Interesting cultural comparison between writing on the East Coast and West. Classic bits include ENEM breaking down different Philly styles a la penmanship teacher, Earsnot daytime bombin the the LES, and Claw sharing her family dynamic reminscent of those classic scenes of Skeme and his mom in Style Wars. Well worth picking it up.

Bright lights, big city

An article I wrote a bit ago about graffiti in Los Angeles, LOST magazine, and LA graff. It includes a really swell documentary on the work of Atlas CBS by wünderkind Joe Forney.
