Malaysia + Singapore lettering

I wandered around Malaysia and Singapore all week this week. A collection of vernacular lettering, signpainting, and nice photolettering is in this here Flickr set. The wide variety of cultures in Malaysia and Singapore makes for amazing diversity in stuff you see on the street. There is such a rich lettering culture there, yet all of the graphic design I saw just used the usual suspects typographically. Too bad in that respect, but there is so much great street lettering that it fully made up for it.
